Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the Kassena Nankana West (KNW) District in the Upper East Region, on Tuesday 19th November 2019 held an inception meeting and training session for CSOs working in that District for the formation of a District Platform of CSOs on SDGs.
The inception meeting organized by National Secretariat of the Ghana CSOs platform on SDGs with support from WaterAid was facilitated by the Bongo District CSOs platform led by the Convener. The meeting brought together a total of eighteen (18) community based Non- Government Organisation (NGOs) working in the District
During the meeting, members of the KNW District platform selected five SDGs – SDG 1, 3, 4, 6 and 13 to be the focus of their advocacy in the District.
Members also elected the following six organizations to serve as the convening team for the platform:
1. CENSODEV, Lead Convener (LC)
2. Rise Ghana
5. ORGIS Ghana and
6. Meta foundation
Following the establishment of the District platform, the conveners were introduced to the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon Gerald Ataogye, who finally inaugurated them on Thursday, the 21st November 2019.
CENSODEV representative introduced the conveners to the DCE and added that this is part of the effort to encourage and facilitate Multi-stakeholder partnership on the SDGs between CSOs and the District Authorities. He also mentioned the six prioritized goals for advocacy and the action plan which is expected to be harmonized with the District’s Development plan.
The Chief Executive expressed his excitement about the establishment of the CSOs platform for SDGs in the district and assured the team that he will work together with the conveners to bring development to the Kassena Nankana West.
